Hee. Everyone freaks at retrograde periods, but since I have like half my planets retrograde/stationary, I am all "who cares, that Mercury shit never happens to me, wheeeeeeeeeeeeee."
Now here comes Uranus retrograde starting tomorrow and for the rest of the year (great, we needed MORE crazy out there, thanks, universe) everyone gets to shit more bricks. I started to wonder about this, like "OMG IS URANUS GOING TO GET ME FIRED?" (answer: probably not till it hits my sixth house, so I got a while), then remembered, "Oh, hey, that's also retrograde in my natal. Never mind! Same level of natural-born crazy here!)
From astrology.com e-mail:
"Uranus is the oddball of the solar system. For starters, it rolls along its side -- on its equator -- instead of spinning upright in its orbit the way planets typically do. Uranus is also in retrograde for more than half of the year. This means it is only direct for two weeks, and is retrograde for about five months out of every Earth year."
So...Uranus is wonky A MAJORITY OF THE TIME, PEOPLE. It's always crazy. Chillax.
"Astrologically, Uranus liberates you from the shackles of convention and applies pressure to change whatever is stagnant in your life. Uranus rules electromagnetic energy and is like a lightning storm that creates chaos as it cleans the air, revealing a fresh new world once the storm has cleared.
But when Uranus is retrograde, expect the unexpected. Wonderful and startling surprises are very possible. This retrograde may set your wild side free, or it could make a notoriously outgoing person uncharacteristically shy.
To know exactly what to expect, review the placement of Uranus in your birth chart. If Uranus is direct in a chart, intuitive and inventive impulses flow on a regular basis. However, when Uranus is retrograde in a birth chart, rebellious urges tend to bottle up and then burst forth, seemingly out of nowhere. A retrograde period seems to reawaken freedom urges within individuals, causing them to suddenly and unconsciously rebel against any ruts or confinement in life. Is Uranus retrograde in your birth chart? Should you be on guard against your own rebellious tendencies in the following months to come?"
I am thinking about doing a NaNoWriMo month in July. I wonder what that counts as?
Taurus: Mars has entered your birth sign, which is putting some fire in your belly. I trust you will give that famous Taurean complacency a run for its money. I know a lot of people born under your sign, and I do mean know and love. They all admit the same thing: it’s difficult to make changes. The comfort zone can feel like climbing out of a canyon. On the most basic level, Taurus grounds stability for the whole astrological system. Yet deep beneath the crust of the Earth is a tectonic power that you know you have, but rarely tap into. That strength would enable you to make vast changes as if this were no big deal at all.
Der, what?
What I believe entices you to keep things stable, is less about fear of the future and more about an attachment to the past. But fear plays a role you need to address. On and off for the past several months, you’ve had a tour of what tends to freak you out. There’s another aspect to fear, however, which is feeling the emotion but losing touch with what creates it. Here is the key to your astrology this month: use fear as a source of energy. Go right into it and confront it directly; or let it propel you to make the decisions that you need to make. If fear is not an issue for you per se, then make a list of your perceived limits and, one by one, take them out.
True dat.Scorpio: You must be emotionally grounded to be free; to be emotionally grounded you need to either feel like you belong somewhere, or be consciously, firmly devoted to it not mattering whether you do or don’t. Ultimately, most environmental issues relate to some internal factor. The planets are conspiring to help you work out what that factor is, and to align you with a kind of therapy process to get you to where you want to be. You seem to be edging ever-closer to actually anchoring yourself in a measure of creative freedom — closer, but (so far) never quite getting there.
Please hurry up on that.
My point is that you most certainly will, and you will sooner than you think.
But the territory you are covering now is essential to making sure you are actually stable enough to be freer than you are today. Part of that freedom involves your emotional world. While nobody would doubt that you are an emotional person, the theme of the planets is how you structure your emotions, and the extent to which you try to hold a consistent pattern. To the extent that any lingering old patterns remain, you are now being keyed into the existence of another kind of strength; one that does not require control so much as it requires awareness. This includes awareness of where you will not let your feelings go, and an invitation to enter precisely that space.
I seriously do not understand this logic worth a damn. I have some water in my chart (2 planets/rising sign), but I never felt "released" from crying once in my life. I feel WORSE. More upset, more tangled, more unclear, more penned up.
Do NOT get this or how it's supposed to feel good.
I forgot how I found this, but it's a medieval astrology (?) analysis of MJ. Kind of sad to read the future stuff on it now, eh?
I don't exactly know how this works from reading it, but I find some of the analysis style to be quite interesting.
Sun
The native’s sun is rather strong, angular and unafflicted, so some fame is indicated. Its aspects to Jupiter make him known as generous, expansive, philosophical; the native often exaggerates. His ruler is the Mercury, in the 4th: his fame comes from or through his family.10th
The Moon is in the 10th, strong and afflicted by Saturn. It suggests a high reputation, riches and honors; a fantasy or glamourous reputation. Looking to the other planets ruling and aspecting the MC, we say Jackson is known for actions that involve difficult partnerships and contentions with enemies; hard work, disciplined, suspicious; and also activities involving glamour, women, beauty; and self-destructive actions and afflictions by enemies.C. Professional Skills or Mastery
In medieval astrology, professional skill has to do with a fundamental skill the native has for his/her whole life, and which wants to be expressed. It relates to what the native is meant to do in society, even if they may not be part of the native’s day job. The goal of this technique is to identify a planet or planets that govern a certain range of abilities. We look to planets in, governing, and aspecting the angles (1st, 10th, 7th, and 4th houses). If Mercury, Venus, or Mars are present or prominent, they are favored. But in most people’s cases, planetary testimonies are mixed.
Planets in/aspecting angles:
Moon (10th) – I already said this involves glamour. Saturn (7th). Venus (4th). Mercury (4th). Sun (4th). Because Mercury and Venus are more present, they receive an initial emphasis; since Venus is closer to the cusp, she is favored.Rulers of angles:
1st: Mercury. Strong in power, but afflicted by the sun’s beams and a square from Mars.
10th: Saturn. Strong and in his triplicity; unafflicted; in a trine with Venus; aspects the MC closest of all.
7th: Jupiter. Rather strong in power, unafflicted.
4th: Sun. Strong in power, unafflicted. In this case, Venus is favored more than Mercury because she is more angular and aspects the MC. But he should be considered secondary because of his rulership of the 1st and his angularity. We will also consider Saturn because of his rulership of the MC and his close aspect to it (and the ASC).
The result is that the professional significator is Venus, with Mercury participating and Saturn added in. We then look to traditional lists of skills associated with these planets (see for example, Ptolemy’s account in Tetrabiblos IV.4 (see below). With so many planets angular, the native has a number of skills.
The planet with the most rulerships over these three the Sun, who adds glamour, authority, and activities where presence is important.
Finally, we note that Venus and Mercury are each strong because they are in angles: so the native’s skill is strong and prominent. But they are afflicted by a square from Mars, who is in detriment in the 12th (the house of secrets and secret enemies), and who rules the 6th (illness) and the 8th (death, fear, risky things). So he will incur danger and destruction on account of his profession, likely from hidden enemies or the native’s own self-destruction (12th) – incarceration and condemnation.
Summary:
The native’s “profession” or personal skill that wants to be expressed, is related to activities in music, theater, entertainment, and pretty things, and professions related to women’s finery. Look for professions that involve visibility and personal presence or even glamour. The previous delineation of social standing showed that the native does experience fame, so it is reasonable that what he is famous for is also his profession (instead of it being a special hobby unrelated to his day job) – as is the case. The native’s skill is high; but there is danger of incarceration, troubles, condemnation, on account of hidden enemies or self-destruction on account of it.
Taurus (April 19- May 20)
You're entering mysterious territory that may at once feel dreamy, lonely, fulfilling and empty. You may be wondering how one cluster of experience can have so many different properties. Let go of any doubt that there's something off within your own perception -- this is indeed a strange dimension you're at the edges of, and you're not going to come out the same person. What will mainly be challenged is your notion of stability, which on most days tends to be wound up a little too tight to do you much good. You'll feel better, learn more and be more productive if you allow yourself to be a different person every day and perhaps from hour to hour: with a changeable concept of what you want and need, of what hurts you, and what will heal your soul. Or simply, a mutable concept of who you really are inside.Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)
Move carefully through the relationship territory of the next week or two. A partner may seem more willing to experiment, to dare or to be thrown wide open than you are. This may be unsettling, particularly if you are in the mood to be cautious, to weigh every emotion and to doubt your right to feel passion. If you're not fully conscious (which is an abundant possibility), the differences between you and others could result in an actual fracture or split. You can help by maintaining your flexibility, and knowing when you're reacting instead of responding (that is easy -- reactions are fast and responses are more gradual). Take the opportunity to follow instead of lead.
Taurus: Do you have a subconscious urge to escape the constraints of your customary behavior? Have you ever wished you could be someone else for a while? If so, this is your lucky week, Taurus. The cosmos is granting you a temporary exemption from acting and feeling like your same old self. From now until July 2, you have permission to walk like, talk like, think like, and even make love like a Pisces or Virgo or Gemini -- or any sign, for that matter, except Scorpio or Aquarius. You might enjoy checking out my horoscopes for the other signs, and following the advice that sounds most fun.
Oh, suuuuuuuuure, rule out my top picks for other signs to be!...Okay, fine, Leo or Libra sounds good.
I am amused at Aries this week though:
Maybe that one instead?Aries: Reality TV personality Spencer Pratt used to be skeptical about the power of prayer. But his wife Heidi, herself a devout believer, urged him to keep his mind open. Then, as an experiment, Spencer asked God to help him and Heidi get a double date with teen pop star Miley Cyrus and her boyfriend, despite the fact that neither of them even knew Cyrus. Apparently God heard and responded, because not too long after that, the hoped-for double date did indeed come to pass. I'm telling you this, Aries, because I think you're entering a phase when you, like Pratt, will have extra luck in making idiosyncratic wishes come true. If I were you, though, I'd focus on more profound idiosyncratic wishes than the kind Pratt pined for.
Leo: What scares you or perturbs you in the coming week could, by August, become what fuels you. What makes you feel unsettled and out of sorts could turn out to be good medicine. But of course you're under no obligation to submit yourself to this experimental sequence, Leo. The fact is, you could probably run away from the discomfort and get immediate relief. Unfortunately, taking that approach would deprive you of the benefits that will almost certainly come from enduring the discomfort for a while. My preference is that you be brave and far-seeing.
Virgo: There's a better than even chance that you're about to embark on a Summer of Love. To improve your odds even more, meditate on the following questions. 1. What qualities do you look for in a lover that you would benefit from developing more fully in yourself? 2. What do you think are your two biggest delusions about the way love works? 3. Is there anything you can do to make yourself more lovable? 4. Is there anything you can do to be more loving? 5. Are you willing to deal with the fact that any intimate relationship worth pursuing will inevitably evoke the most negative aspects of both partners -- and require both partners to heal their oldest wounds?
Libra: You are entering a phase when you'll have more power than usual to influence people. Your charisma will be waxing and the light in your eyes will be growing more intense, making it more likely that your point of view will be heard and appreciated. Your powers of persuasion will be increasing, as well, and you'll have extra understanding about how to motivate people and get them to work together effectively. So let me ask you the most important question: What exactly do you want to accomplish with your enhanced clout?
Sagittarius: A guy I barely know critiqued me at a party recently. "You haven't suffered enough to feel intense passion," he said. "Your life has been too happy, too easy." I didn't want to get into a debate about whether my life has been too happy and easy, so in my reply I didn't mention my divorce or the time I was shot or the grueling poverty I endured for 18 years. "So you're saying," I told him, "that suffering is the only way you can acquire passion? I don't agree. Have you ever raised a child? Have you ever been in love with someone who incited you to make radical changes in your life? Have you ever worked on a creation for many years and then submitted it to be judged by thousands of people? I have." I'm letting you know about this, Sagittarius, because I predict you'll soon be offered an experience like those I named -- adventures that have the potential to build intense passion without requiring you to suffer.
Maybe that one?
What is with the massive celebrity deaths today?!
