Tonight’s total eclipse (Wednesday in many zones outside the United States) of the Sun in the last degree of Cancer represents a point of demarcation in our lives. It’s one of those rare points in time where we will be able to say, “Before this, things were one way, and after this, they are the new way.” I think this will work even if we’re not ‘consciously’ aware of the process; we’re standing in a doorway, a portal, and the past is on one side and the present is on the other.
Today is a day where it would make sense to look at your life and decide what you want to move on from. Based on the possibilities you see in the world, some of which may have just presented themselves to you recently, it is a day when you can take a step toward what you want to move on to: what circumstances, ideas, people, places and modes of self-expression you want to embrace.

The biggest secret in the universe is not that it’s your life; it’s where to find the tools to make it so. Really there is only one: the power of decision. Every small move means a lot.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)
Imagine that the hang-ups you are processing are not your own. They feel like your own, but I’m proposing a psychic or psychological maneuver to give you a little distance and to assess things in a way that is fairer to yourself. Here is the issue as I see it. You are still drowning in your mother’s insecurities. She overcompensated for those insecurities by trying to control the entire universe, including you. I would not be surprised if this made her sick, mentally or physically. The vector of control was a mixture of emotional manipulation and applied ignorance. The remedy is to ask for what you want, state your goals honestly and make sure you take responsibility for knowing what you’re supposed to know, and for putting that information to work. You keep telling yourself you have actual goals, one of which has recently come back into focus. These three simple techniques will get you a lot closer to them.

Examiner general forecast:

For the next three years, this eclipse will make you more aware of the bass notes of your life. The subwoofer of reality will sound a strong note of echoing belief systems programmed into you from your heritage, family of birth, and consensus reality brain washing.

There will be a deleting process in the beginning, then a defragmenting, and eventually a cleaned up hard-drive (only the programs that work will run) to face the new vistas, new worlds to explore, and a new start on life. Don’t resist what falls away and clatters out of your life at this time. What falls apart now, was broken to begin with and what issues are in your face these days are those injured in the past, painful points in our psyches we guard and protect from harm, that have drained all our energy.
This is one last painful press on those “buttons” to release them forever.

The energy released will be phenomenal and you will be surprised how much creative genius is let loose. Long-standing problems will find solutions, your mind will function clearly and no longer will you be so willing to follow consensus reality like a sheep to slaughter, but create a renaissance of creativity and invention.

Behind the scenes of this Solar Eclipse, the Sun is going to send a blast of creative force and like a Solar Flare beam down your magnetic power to Earth. You will become a magnet for “moving the masses.” They won’t know what hit them and like a fly to a spider’s web be hypnotized by your truth. No ifs, ands, or buts, no calling you enigmatic or strange. The truth will hit them speechless and you no longer have to hide behind your enigmatic silence or forceful controlling tirades.
Whatever you do over the next three years will be recognized for its depth. Doors open, freedom to pursue anything you want is there and some cool successful people have your back. While people may have questioned your judgement in the past, they have generally left your sanity alone, save for the occasional shoe binge, but that’s for another column/time. On this full moon however, your mental capacities are going to be challenged by your toughest critic; yourself. We often fail to recognize that we live in a strange and multi-dimensional universe that doesn’t always appear and act the way we’re used to. On this, full-lunar-eclipse, the veil between worlds gets mighty thin for you. Ghosts, orbs, UFO’s, sprites, you name it, they all could very well be making cameos in your consciousness. The Leo/Aquarius eclipses

I keep forgetting to post this.

"eclBut my dirty little secret was that I’d become a musician not just for the satisfaction of self-expression, but because I was a social misfit without a lot of other options. Unlike the girls who hung around backstage at the clubs where my band played, who traveled in tight, homogeneously attractive groups, I didn’t fit in. And to be honest, I envied – still envy – women who "fit in." Even now I often feel out of place at a bridal shower or girl’s night out.

Those of us with untapped Aquarius energy wander through life feeling as though we missed school on the very important day when social networking skills were taught. Humans are social animals, and it’s threatening to be unable to find a place in one’s pack. We’re hard-wired to crave the very Aquarian experience of belonging. But if fitting in means surrendering the ideas, gifts, and self-expression that are uniquely ours, our Leo selves insist that it’s too dear a price to pay.

As it turned out, not fitting in has proved to be one of my greatest blessings. I remember thinking early on that if I couldn’t fit in, I’d damn well make the best of standing out. So I gave myself over completely to music and later to writing, and in the end, a wonderful thing happened: By standing out, I somehow managed to find my place – to find love, acceptance, and friendship on my own terms.

Eclipses again

The Aquarius one was conjunct my Juno, the Leo one today(ish?) is conjunct my dreaded Saturn.

So far, nothing Juno/home related has gone on, I am still hardly home anyway. And I was about to go, "eh, nothing's gonna happen on the other one either."

Oh. Wait. Don't I have that conference this weekend? Talking about Saturn?

Fun with fixed signs

"Michele, with several planets in Leo, your Ascendant in Scorpio, and Mars in Taurus on the Descendant, you are a strong fixed-sign person. I am, too, and so I can sympathize with where you are right now.

The fixed signs - Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius - can be difficult to work with, because they are stubborn and immovable. The flip side is that they are stable, reliable, and durable. We can carry burdens that would break others. Of course, that can mean we get a heavier load in life, too.

Leo and Aquarius are being impacted heavily right now due to a series of eclipses in these two signs that began this past February and will run until August 2009. To a lesser degree, Scorpio and Taurus also are being impacted (along with Scorpio and Taurus Rising). Since you are a Rising Scorpio, you are getting hit doubly hard. The North Node often indicates our “mission” in life, so I feel fairly sure that you are about to find it.

Your challenge, as I see it, is that you have a lot of “self-oriented” Leo energy in your chart, while your North Node in Virgo indicates that your life’s work is about service to others. You will have to find a balance that allows you to fully express who you are while also serving humanity."

Lunar eclipse posting

The opposition aspect brings awareness. Visually, you can see that a Full Moon is illuminated. Yet during an eclipse, this awareness is temporarily obscured, because the Earth comes between the Sun and Moon. The light disappears. What happens to our emotions (Moon) when this happens?

The opposition also symbolizes a breaking point, when you must make a decision. Further commit to a path/relationship, or separate from it? You may be able to see more clearly now what to do, but the decision feels so life-changing that you don't quite feel in control of the matter. Whatever has come to a head feels almost destined. (The Nodes are like knots that tie people together.)

The Leo-Aquarius polarity concerns the needs of the individual versus the needs of the collective. Being fired up about one's creative potential versus experiencing life from a detached perspective.

This Lunar Eclipse occurs at 24 degrees Aquarius at 5:16pm EDT on Saturday. If you have angles or personal planets around this degree area in Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius, this eclipse could have a strong impact. If you don't know your chart but your birthday is around this date, the same goes for you!

My Saturn's in Leo at 23 degrees, Venus is in Taurus at 27. Erk.

Solar eclipse in Leo

The coming Solar Eclipse will have a very significant impact on us all. All eclipses shut something down, taking away elements of our lives no longer "true" for us. Leo is the sign of personal love, creativity, self-dramatization, and our heart-felt pleasures. Thus a form of these will be shut down, with the void sure to attract new forms of expressing this energy. Wherever this eclipse falls in our charts is where we can expect long term endings, but also relief, transfiguration, and the joy of knowing we've made it through the night.

Erk. It's on my midheaven.

This could feel something like reuniting with someone we hadn't spoken to in years — feeling ecstatic, insecure and in pain with poignancy. We may over-worry or over-analyze. I think these are signs of love; let's try to leave it at that. There may be some issues of who is playing the father roll. There may also be growth spurts in babies, teens, pregnancies, relationships and with grandparents, too. It may feel awkward as we get to know each other in our advanced states of change; it may be unbearable to wish we hadn't worried for so long.
With North Node and Chiron conjunct in Aquarius, it is possible now to find a sense of resolve around dull yet excruciating pains which lingered in our tribe over decades. Issues we may have thought were hopeless can take a turn now. The next time Chiron is conjunct North Node will be in 2024, when Pluto is entering Aquarius. The comfort we may find with newly defined families or close circles could well play important rolls in our lives for the course of Pluto in Capricorn.
Sun in Fixed Signs–Because this eclipse involves stress aspects from the Sun, Moon, and Mercury in Leo to Jupiter in Capricorn, your responsibilities and obligations overtake your need for self-expression, especially for Leos, but also for the other fixed signs. It is as if you are not seen, not heard and your feelings in the matter don’t seem to count. This is a time to go inward to grasp the heart of the matter while you work through your day-to-day activities. Mars and moving right along

"In a session with a client the other day, she asked me if I saw her moving any time soon. She really wanted to move from where she was, and she was hoping that was indicated in her chart somewhere."

I hear that. Well, moving along with something in general, if not specifically the town I live in. (On my list of places to live, the town I am in is #3. That ain't bad. Especially since locations #2 and #1 are incredibly beyond expensive.)

But I do want to do...something. And I somehow absolutely cannot budge myself to do a damn thing. Oh, the joys of being doubly fixed. My poor lone Sag moon wants ouuuuuuuuut and the Taurus and Scorpio axis emphasis does not allow escape. I'm a chaos magnet, but in the last year and a half, my lightning-rod-ness has dwindled down to some degree. I'm used to lightning making decisions for me. And it seems like without being forced to because something blew up, I can't make myself do squat.

Then again, this could also be because I am also so sick of things exploding around me that I don't want to deliberately cause more unpleasant upset in my life. Then again, I'm unable to even go for PLEASANT upset.

So, what's the issue with this? Is it fixable?

Sometimes we have planetary events that clearly indicate a change is coming: for example, when transiting Uranus (radical change and innovation) crosses over the Midheaven/Nadir axis (cusp of the fourth house of home and tenth house of career). Twice a year or so transiting Mars will cross that point, stimulating the desire for some sort of change. But change is not always seen as just an event triggered by a planet; it is often the result of an activated Will that occurs after a longer-term cycle.

Yeah, so far this isn't panning out for me.

This client had what I like to call a "Mars Problem" in her chart, with Mars in the twelfth house, where it operates in the subconscious realms, and stressed by both Saturn (limitation and challenge) and Chiron (wounding and healing). Mars acts as the Will of our personal self; in many ways it is our Free Will. Mars is our desire nature; it shows how we go about getting what we want and keeping what we have and in that role it also shows how well we set boundaries and defend ourselves. When Mars is stressed in the chart we have difficulty in all of these areas and our Free Will loses its functionality as a result. Sometimes we can feel paralyzed, not knowing where to turn.

My Mars is hammered:

Mars Conjunct Midheaven
Sun Square Mars
Mars Square Ascendant
Mars Square Uranus
Moon Trine Mars
Mercury Trine Mars

Some good aspects, but enough hard ones in there probably drone that out. I can't help but think the Mars square Uranus might translate into "big changes = trouble for you." And the fact that it's on the MC and squared by the axis is not good either. Sheesh, and Saturn's not even involved in that.

In the case of my client, she was in a longer-term cycle of Uranus transiting through the tenth house which had caused her to leave her job and pursue a series of other opportunities. She didn't feel that any of them were right for her but judged herself for wanting yet another change. Because her Mars, her own inner direction of Free Will, was challenged in the birthchart it was difficult for her to feel safe in her choices.

We don't always get to exercise our free will, and we don't always get what we want as the Rolling Stones so aptly put it many years ago. Sometimes our individual will (Mars) is blocked by the gods in the form of Saturn (restrictions) or Pluto (transformation) and in those cases fate takes over and all we can do is surrender. But we still must exercise that free will or it will become atrophied and useless.

Exercising our free will and empowering our Mars is as easy as this: Ask yourself, what is it you WANT to have happen. And then DO IT!

*sigh*

Somehow JUST PICK AND DO IT!!!!!!!!! sounds a whole lot easier to say than to do. I can't help but think that if I make a choice and go after it, I'm just putting up the lightning rod and asking God to strike me down somehow. No wonder I can't do shit.

The upcoming solar eclipse will be landing on my MC (where the natal Mars is) on August 1. Hm. I wonder if that will help do...well, anything.
