So, my Pisces Moon mom has just been totally effing crazy all last week, and Teh Crazy is continuing this week. Alas, she has to use up her vacation time this week, so she is spending it calling me at work wanting to cry and go over drama (thanks, Mom), AND she can't find anyone who wants to hang out with her in this mood. Can't imagine why.
So, astrology: just coming out of an exact Saturn Return again for her, transiting Pluto square her natal Venus, nearing the end of Uranus through her seventh house. Progressed moon in seventh (trining Saturn for awhile) and she is screaming for a partner and nobody's giving it to her. Whee.
Then I get e-mail from my Pisces Moon BF, so I analyzed her tarot reading. Moral of the story: COOL IT WITH THE EMOTIONS, 'CAUSE THEY ARE MAKING YOU CRAZY AND YOU GET NOTHING DONE.
Her astrology: progressed moon in seventh, progressed Pluto/Venus/Sun trine and Mars opposed to Pluto.
I am so the person with No Sympathy For Your Pain this week.
I don't even watch this show, and was pretty unaware of Teh Drama of this last bit until the dental hygenist wanted to know which one she was rooting for. She was rooting for Kris because Adam was "too weird." As a weirdo myself, I felt kinda offended.
So I read Rolling Stone yesterday and read the article on Adam, where he mentions astrology and Madonna.
"Madonna hadn't watched American Idol, but the two of them talked astrology, and they discussed his moon sign, Aries. "She said, "You don't like anyone telling you what to do, do you?" he says. "It's so cool, because she gets it, you know?"
Heh. Yeah, I figure those two would relate on that.
So, I have seen a few astrological analysis bits done on Adam of late. Ironically, most of them seem to think he has a Pisces moon. I was all "nuh-uh" to that even before I had it confirmed. I would also agree that he probably has Uranus rising. And of COURSE he's an Aquarius.
In related news, Kris is having a Pluto transit trining his sun.
So...what can a person do to work with Pluto energy instead of against it? I don't have all the answers, but here are a few thoughts.
1. Figure out what the heck the purpose of the transit is and start implementing it immediately. How do you figure out what the purpose of the transit is?
Sometimes it's obvious because your insides are screaming with it. "Get out of this marriage!!!" your miserable soul shouts at you. "Get a different job; this one is killing you!" your gut keeps growling at you. And so on.
Pluto transits are so often about giving things up. Often they're about giving up things you don't want to give up because it will be scary or difficult to do so. A limiting friendship, a business partnership, a career, a home, a way of approaching life, a romantic attachment that will never work, a toxic relationship with a parent or sibling. There are an awful lot of things in life that a normal person doesn't want to give up even though they're not good for him or her. Pluto tries to force us to give them up.
If you can't immediately tell what the purpose of your Pluto transit is by sheer instinct, move on to figuring it out astrologically. My method is to look first at the house of the planet being squashed by Pluto. Transiting Pluto squaring your natal sun in the 7th house--most likely Pluto is taking aim at your relationships. What he's usually trying to do is smash up your relationship template like a dinner dish.
IIt might be helpful to know why Pluto does this. In my experience, Pluto does this because your old templates are standing in the way of what you really want, the things you dream of. You don't necessarily realize this at the time (or at least I don't), but Pluto does. An unhealthy attachment to your aging mother might seem like a source of support and validation of your caring nature to you. To Pluto, it might seem like the thing that holds you back from real physical and romantic connection with people of your own age. Although what you have may feel like love, it may hold you back from the love you really want and are capable of experiencing. You may not realize that you're finally ready for a mature romantic love--but Pluto does.
Hm. Well, I am having a Pluto trine to my 7th house cusp/Sun/Chiron. To be honest, I feel more of the "argh, jobs" thing more than relationships of late. I guess it's a good time to be single so I can't have a relationship break up on me now, huzzah.
On the other hand, "an unhealthy attachment to your aging mother", that whole bit? Uh...yeah, no arguing with this one, because it's a huge issue. That said, group therapy is helping a LOT with this one. Not that I'm likely to start dating again anyway, but maybe in another decade when I do, she won't be so bratty about it :)
If looking at the astrological houses doesn't help you analyze the purpose, look at the planets involved and then the signs. Transits to the sun, for example, often involve an update of identity or role in life. They very often have to do with a deep inner sense of purpose.
Yeah, that seems more right.
The rest of this sounds like a Saturn thing, doesn't it?
Pluto's ultimate aim is to take what used to work in your life but doesn't any more--and get rid of it. Whether it's an attitude, a habit, a person, a situation, a place, or something else--the sooner you are willing to work to get rid of what's no longer functional, the sooner Pluto will reward you.
And Pluto does dish out some pretty handsome rewards when he's done torturing you. So you might think of what you most desire and set your mind towards the idea that if you can fulfill your Pluto task, you just might get it.
On a related note, here's a profile of Kal Penn, who's a year and a day older than me, apparently.
Penn's astrological chart (also known as the birthchart, or horoscope) shows that he was born with the Sun in Taurus, which was in close proximity (conjunct) Chiron, which is also known as the Wounded Healer. This planetary combination shows that Penn is a person who cherishes stability in life and doesn't like change (Taurus), but that he has had difficulty establishing a sense of his own identity (Chiron conjunct the Sun). With the Sun conjunct Mercury (which with its mercurial nature lends itself to taking on other roles) he has a natural facility for acting, but he has an extremely serious side as well.Saturn, the planet of hard work and discipline, forms a challenging aspect to Penn's Sun which suggests that he puts a great deal of pressure on himself to be successful. Saturn is in Leo, which reveals that he is uncomfortable with attention and fame, despite the news reports that claim that Penn quit the House gig out of an attack of egomania. The Taurus Sun desires a comfortable life that is stable and secure, and acting certainly provides a good income when one has a steady television career. But the serious side of Penn has always reached for something deeper and more meaningful. In 2007 it was announced that Penn would be teaching undergraduate courses at the University of Pennsylvania. It was around this time that his Moon progressed into Virgo which has a longing to be of service and to do meaningful work. At the same time, transiting Pluto has been forming a trine to his Sun which is encouraging him to transform his life in order to better reflect his true self.Penn is having some wonderfully positive planetary transits this year, which shows that this is a good move for him and will enable him to express himself in ways that have previously been impossible.
Both by transit and natally (in the comments). I have Pluto in the 12th natally, so the comment part really, well...I can't argue with it.
Having a natal 12th house Pluto, I can tell you the tapping into the collective un/consciousness is definitely a gift, although as a child it didn’t feel that way.
It made my childhood feel extremely unsafe, and in fact it was. I learned through my teens either the energy would take me or I would have to learn how to go with the flow as well as how to absorb it without it killing me. I know that sounds rather extreme but it actually was.
Learning how to ground and applying psychic shielding was also a life saver. It is good you have such a positive attitude with the transit, as well as the life skills Elsa, because from my experiences it is like trouble or turmoil will find you. It most assuredly can play out as the scapegoat among other things. It is like having some beacon that just draws stuff to you. You already have the ingenuity to deal with that but with the transit it may come in spades.
The positives are like gold though, defeat is never an option after you live through that stuff. You know how poetic the words seem about rising like a phoenix from the ashes, well I think I grew a second skin of asbestos. I may get knocked down but no one can ever keep me there.
Trouble will find you- GOD YES, I'm a chaos magnet.
And yet, somehow nothing ever kills me. Go figure.
Not at all a helpful outcome here, is it?
"To translate, you are at a crossroads at which there are many changes ahead for you. The New Moon suggests that these will be positive new beginnings, although there’s a lot of heavy energy playing out in your life right now, so I don’t expect you’re feeling anything like “excitement about new adventures” and all that. By the looks of it, you may feel backed into a corner and forced to accept circumstances that you would not have wanted, given a choice.
At the same time, transiting Saturn has just passed over your Sun and is squaring your Moon in Sagittarius. Challenging Saturn-Moon transits can make us feel depressed, isolated, and alone, even if it isn’t the case, although unfortunately sometimes a key relationship does end under this influence.
On the bright side, Jupiter is making a nice trine to your natal Venus-Uranus conjunction and also to your Ascendant. I think this will bring you some relief. If your husband decides to leave, it looks to me like you will find someone else very quickly."
As usual, the e-mail goes out before it gets on the website, so I need to cut and paste.
It means, "Aw crap, I have two there, fuckity?" (4 and 5 Taurus- Sun/Chiron, 2 Cancer- Jupiter). Man, I don't want to come out like this guy. Or this girl. or this person.
WHEN A PLANET STATIONSPluto stations at 1 degree of Capricorn at the beginning of April, which means that everyone with planets at the early degrees of Aries, Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Capricorn and Pisces are undergoing an outer planet transit by Pluto. What does this mean?
Well, it's comforting to know the trine won't be as bad."Usually what happens with outer planet transits (the most reliable events in astrology in terms of producing effects) is that the person starts to feel the stirrings of the issue that will be presented by the transit a bit before the transiting planet reaches the same degree as your natal planet. For example, Barack Obama has natal Venus at 1 degree of Cancer, so Pluto will be opposing his Venus. As his campaign headed in 2008, he naturally felt pressure and opposition from his chief rival, Pluto-ruled Scorpio Hillary Clinton. As Pluto moved through 0 degrees of Capricorn, the pressure, criticism and opposition increased. This is the way it goes for most folks. You can kinda tell it's coming. You may very well have created the situation that the transit addresses, as Obama did when deciding to run for president. But you're usually kind of surprised that it actually affects you.By the time the transiting planet (Pluto) hits the same degree as your natal planet, you are usually actively dealing with the situation caused by the transit or trying to figure out how to deal with it. As I write this, Obama's been trying to figure out how to fend off the fallout from various attacks and campaign mis-steps.When you look back later at the time when the planet was at the same degree as your own planet, you can often remember the over-riding concern represented by the transit. For example, you might say "Oh yeah, that's when we were trying to figure out what to do about the house..."When the transiting planet actually stations (seems as though it is not moving), it often seems to be at its most powerful, shining a spotlight on a particular situation. Often there is a bit of a break or turning point when the planet begins to move direct or retrograde again. (In this case, Pluto will go retrograde.) You temporarily figure out a solution to the problem or decide what approach you're going to take. Some people make rather drastic decisions right around the time a planet stations. They abruptly quit their jobs, give a lover an ultimatum, tell a boss that they are not willing to relocate or whatever.People who don't make decisions when the planet is actually close to stationary often do so right as the planet moves off the degree of their natal planet. So some people affected by Pluto will feel the need to take decisive action right around April 1 while others will make up their minds what to do right around April 27 as Pluto moves back to 0 degrees.Sometimes the effect is more strongly seen in actions by other people. In other words, the person with Venus at 1 degree Cancer gets drastic news right around April 1 or April 27. Usually there is a combination of actions by the person with the transit and actions by others that create the situation to be resolved. As the transiting planet moves away from the degree of your own planet, there is usually a relief from the intense feelings and pressure that were felt when Pluto was at the same degree as your own planet. Pluto transits last a while though, so the situation is usually not permanently resolved but will need to be re-addressed later. For example, people affected by Pluto in Capricorn at 0 and 1 degrees will re-encounter this transit at the end of 2008.Squares and oppositions are far more stressful than trines and sextiles, but they also produce better, more dramatic, and more long-lasting results. People with planets in Virgo and Taurus for example, will benefit from a trine by Pluto, but will often not be as motivated to take advantage of it. Even a trine or sextile will often show results, though. A sextile between Pluto and Venus may feel like being stuck in a sexy but ultimately unproductive relationship. When the Pluto transit finally ends, though, a person will often rapidly get out of the problematic relationship and into a better one, almost without effort.
